Chestnut Hill Real Estate & Homes for Sale in Pennsylvania

In the northwest section of Philadelphia adjacent to Montgomery County lies the German Corridor - the neighborhoods of Chestnut Hill, East Falls, Mount Airy and Germantown. This diverse section of the city offers charming and convenient living options for any lifestyle. Families will appreciate the fine selection of private schools in the area, which offer education from the pre-school years through high school. Chestnut Hill is probably the most sought-after address in Philadelphia. Characterized by historic buildings, art galleries and eclectic neighborhood shops, Chestnut Hill seems to maintain a small-town feel despite its location near the heart of the city. Mount Airy is known for the diversity of its population; the community embraces a wide range of backgrounds, lifestyles, ethnicities and occupations. East Falls, closer to the center of Philadelphia, boasts historic homes and quaint, tree-lined streets. Germantown, just north of East Falls, is one of the oldest suburbs in the country. Like Chestnut Hill, Germantown is peppered with local shops, restaurants and art galleries. The unique culture of these communities is derived from the colonial days, when this region was mainly real farmland. The more prosperous residents of the denser portions of the city would spend their summers in what is now Chestnut Hill, Mount Airy and Germantown. Many of the expansive homes these families built on the open land are still lived in today. Germantown, Mount Airy and Chestnut Hill real estate options consist of single-family detached homes, estate properties, condominiums, townhouses and land lots.

Chestnut Hill Buying Guide: Homes for Sale & Condos Prices

Chestnut Hill real estate is diverse in style and price. Prices for detached, single-family homes start in the mid-$100,000s and reach well over $1 million. The homes in these communities are characteristically large, many having four bedrooms or more. The multi-story, colonial style is prevalent and the lots are generally oversized. Many homes are restored or well maintained classic homes, but new construction is available in limited quantities. Some properties have scenic views of nearby Fairmount Park, one of the world’s largest city parks. Condominiums and townhouses are available in the $200,000-range. The selection is a mix of modern buildings and century-old, historic buildings. Undeveloped land lots in this area of the city are in short supply.
